The second season of the American satirical superhero television series Gen V, the third series in the franchise based on The Boys comic book story arc "We Gotta Go Now" by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

The second season stars Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh and Asa Germann.

On January 5, 2023, it was announced that a writing room for a potential second season would soon come together, to be led by Michele Fazekas, who also has become sole showrunner since Tara Butters has taken a break from work.[2] On October 19, 2023, Amazon Prime Video renewed the series for a second season.[3]

Regarding how it would connect to the ending of season 4 of The Boys, Eric Kripke said: "[Gen V] will be the first glimpse into the new world that was created at the end of S4."[4]

Casting

The second season features the return of the main cast, with the exception of Chance Perdomo whose role will not be recast due to his death.[5][6] In June 2024, Hamish Linklater was announced in the role of Cipher, the new dean of Godolkin University.[1] At the San Diego Comic-Con 2024, the appearance of Chace Crawford as Kevin Moskowitz / The Deep reprising his role from The Boys was revealed.[5]

Filming

On March 30, 2024, it was announced the production of the second season would be put on hold following the death of Chance Perdomo in a motorcycle accident. The cast was due to begin table reads that afternoon before filming started April 8.[7] Filming on the second season officially commenced on May 2024.[8][9]

Footage from the season was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024.[5]

Release

The season is scheduled to release in 2025.[10]
