Golmakan Rural District (Persian: دهستان گلمكان) is in Golmakan District of Golbahar County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran. Its capital is the village of Ahmadabad,[3] transferred from the village of Golmakan[4] (now a city).[5]

At the National Census of 2006, its population (as a part of the former Golbahar District of Chenaran County) was 22,816 in 5,960 households.[6] There were 20,366 inhabitants in 5,874 households at the following census of 2011.[7] At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 8,937 in 2,764 households. The most populous of its 44 villages was Esjil (now in Cheshmeh Sabz Rural District), with 1,533 people.[2]

In August 2019, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Golbahar County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with the city of Golbahar as its capital.[3]
