Heart of the Casbah (French: Au coeur de la Casbah) is a 1952 French drama film directed by Pierre Cardinal and starring Viviane Romance, Claude Laydu and Peter van Eyck.[1] It was shot at the Billancourt Studios in Paris and on location in French Algeria, particularly around the Casbah of Algiers. The art directors Roland Berthon and Antoine Malliarakis designed the film's sets.

Synopsis

In Algiers Maria Pilar, the wife of a criminal justice arrested by the police, is wary when Michel his son from his previous marriage arrives in the city. Soon she begins to develop a consuming passion for him despite his love for Sylvie, a girl of his own age. Vengefully Maria Pilar attempts to encourage her husband's jealousy against his son.
