Species in this genus are parasitic unicellular eukaryotes transmitted by flies of the genus Culicoides and infect mammals.

Description
[edit]The hepatic schizonts are small and the colloid is repartitioned. It is most similar morphologically to Hepatocystis rodhaini.[citation needed]
