This tram stop was opened along with the track section between Gleadless Townend and Herdings Park in April 1995, a week after the Halfway extension opened.[2]

To the west of this stop, the track singles and stays singled until the terminus at Herdings Park. To the east, the tracks merge into the main road and mix with other road traffic.[3]

At the centre of each platform, passenger information displays stand and show estimated arrival times for trams.[4] There are also two short ramps at each end of the platforms, providing step-free access for passengers.[5]
