Inga Margrethe Houge (3 May 1856 – 11 February 1926) was a Norwegian actress and chief controller of Den Nationale Scene.

Early and personal life

Inga Margrethe Houge was born on 3 May 1856 in Vik, Sogn to priest Christian Severin Houge and Susanna Maria Theresia Bruun. She was named after her sister, Inga Margrethe Houge who died in 1855 at the age of 16 while performing a play in Bergen. On 7 August 1883, Houge married actor Nicolai Halvorsen in Christiania. They were the parents of actress Tordis Halvorsen.[1][2][3]

Career

On 4 February 1883, Houge made her stage debut at Den Nationale Scene in Bergen as Agnes in En Fristerinde. She later moved to Christiania with her husband, performing in several minor roles at the Christiania Theatre during the 1890s.[1][4] Later she became the chief controller at Den Nationale Scene.[5]

Death

Houge died on 11 February 1926 in Oslo, at the age of 69.[1]
