Iron Island (Persian: جزیره آهنی, Jazire-ye Ahani) is a 2005 Iranian drama film written and directed by Mohammad Rasoulof. It won the Golden Peacock (Best Film) at the 36th International Film Festival of India.[1]
Synopsis
[edit]Old Captain Nemat runs a tight ship. This benevolent dictator is almost a father to the scores of poor, homeless, uneducated families who live on an immensely overcrowded tanker, anchored offshore.

[edit]On Rotten Tomatoes, 97% of 32 reviews are considered positive, with an average rating of 7.3/10. The site's critics consensus reads: "A visually creative yet grounded film from Iran, Iron Island is a political allegory that packs a punch"[2] As per Metacritic, the film has received "generally favorable reviews", with a weighted average score of 74/100 based on 16 critics' ratings.[3]
