Jamshēd or Jamshīd[1] (Kurdish: Cemşîd, Persian: جمشید, pronounced [dʒæmˈʃiːd]), also spelled as Jamshed, Jamshid, Jamshaid, Jamsheed, Cemşid, Jamshet, or Jamset, is a Persian masculine given name.   1. ^ In Early New Persian there are two long vowels "ē" and "ī" which are both shown by the Perso-Arabic letter "ی". Their distinction is lost in western varieties of Persian (spoken in Iran), but more or less preserved in eastern varieties (spoken in Afghanistan and Central Asia).
