Jihaad Campbell (born February 24, 2004) is an American college football linebacker for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Early life

Campbell was born on February 24, 2004, in Erial, New Jersey.[1][2] He attended Timber Creek Regional High School for three years before transferring to IMG Academy.[3][4] In Campbell's senior season he played at both wide receiver and defensive end. On offense he hauled in 15 receptions for 249 yards and two touchdowns. On defense he totaled 45 tackles and seven sacks.[5] On August 4, 2020, the sixteen year old, Campbell would receive his top offer to play football at Clemson,[6] where Campbell would initially decide to commit to play college football at.[7][8] However, Campbell would decide to de-commit from Clemson, and re-open his commitment.[9] Campbell would then decide to commit to play football for the University of Alabama.[10][11]

College career

In Campbell's first season in 2022, he notched one tackle on the season.[12] In week four of the 2023 season, Campbell would record seven tackles in a win over Ole Miss.[13] In the following week, Campbell would get his first start where he would shine, talling 14 tackles, with one going for a loss, and an interceptions, as he helped the Crimson Tide beat Mississippi State.[14] In week eight, Campbell would notch ten tackles, and he would recover a fumble which he returned 24 yards for a touchdown, as he was a key piece in Alabama's 34-20 win over Tennessee.[15]
