Harry James Campbell is an American singer known for his work in barbershop and a cappella music.
Early life
[edit]Jim Campbell was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He was influenced by his mother, Carole, who was involved with the Sweet Adelines. He began singing at a young age and joined the Louisville Thoroughbreds, where he trained under Jim Miller and Allen Hatton.
Education
[edit]Campbell attended Bellarmine College, where he studied voice and participated in choral music programs. He also studied opera at the Vocal Institute at UC Santa Barbara with Elizabeth Mannion.
Career
[edit]In 1992, Campbell began performing as a bass with the Dapper Dans of Disneyland. He is also a bass soloist and section leader for the Canterbury Choir at All Saints Church in Pasadena. As a member of The Perfect Gentlemen, he won the 2002 National A Cappella Championship. Additionally, Campbell is a freelance singer in Los Angeles, recording commercial jingles and TV show themes.
Performance and Credits
[edit]Campbell has been a featured soloist with the Pacific Symphony Pops and the Santa Barbara Symphony and has performed with the Pacific Chorale, Angeles Chorale, and The LA Choral Artists. His musical theater roles include Kenickie in Grease, Action in West Side Story, and Curly in Oklahoma!. His television appearances include The Simpsons, Home Improvement, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He has also contributed vocals for Disney's The Haunted Mansion film.[1]
Personal life
