The following year, he succeeded Neil Hattlestad at the school's athletic director.[4]

Swisher was the 16th head football coach at Adams State College—now known as Adams State University—in Alamosa, Colorado, serving for two seasons, from 1982 to 1983, and compiling a record of 7–10–2[5]
