Jonny Chingas

Raul Garcia, better known by his stage name, Jonny Chingas (1940-1992),[1] is a Mexican American musician known for his electronic and soul songs, such as "Se Me Paro".

Career

Garcia was born in 1940 in Chihuahua, Mexico. He left Mexico in the 1950s,[2] and shortly afterwards began his first band, Raul Garcia and Imperials. Circa 1972, he began his 2nd music career, às stagename Rulie Garcia [3]

In 1980, he released his first album, No Hablo Ingles, along with his single "Se Me Paro".[2] Chingas released his next album, Pachuco Volume 1, in 1981,[1] and continued to release albums until the mid-1980s.

After his career

Chingas' music was included on many Lowrider CDs, such as Lowrider Soundtrack Volume 1.[4]

"Se Me Paro" (English: It Stood Up) is still very popular in the Lowrider community.
