Population

[edit]

At the time of the 2006 National Census, Karafs's population was 4,041 in 951 households, when it was a village in Darjazin-e Olya Rural District of the former Qorveh-e Darjazin District of Razan County.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 4,086 people in 1,127 households.[5] The 2016 census measured the population of the village as 4,155 people in 1,250 households. It was the most populous village in its rural district.[2]

After the census, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Dargazin County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with the city of Qorveh-e Dargazin as its capital. The rural district was transferred to the new Shahanjarin District.[6] Karafs was elevated to the status of a city.[7]
