Kenneth Fang GBS CBE JP (Chinese: 方鏗）(November 20, 1938 - August 28, 2022) was a Hong Kong billionaire businessman and philanthropist. He was nicknamed the "King of Textiles".[1] His younger brother is the politician Vincent Fang. [2]
A graduate of the University of Michigan and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Fang was the chairman of Fang Brothers Holdings Limited and Fang Brothers Knitting Limited.
He was also awarded the Industrialist of the Year by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries in 2002, conferred an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Business Administration by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and University of Hong Kong in 2005, awarded the Outstanding Leader in Business by the Sing Tao News Corporation in 2011, as well as a Honorary Doctorate in May 2014 by the Nanjing University in recognition of his charitable deeds, including over 1 billion Yuan in donations to Nanjing and the mainland.
Fang was a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, a member of the Standing Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of Jiangsu Province, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council, Honorary Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Textiles, Chairman of the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel, member of the Election Committee (Hong Kong), Chairman of the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation, Chairman of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority[3]
