Around 15:30 on 30 July 2024 a helicopter crashed between Killucan and Raharney near the R156 road in County Westmeath, Ireland.[1] Two men died.[1]

Local residents described the aircraft as "plummeting suddenly" and said that it had crashed in a piggery behind the local Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club.[1]

Emergency services attended the site and the Air Accident Investigation Unit reportedly sent investigators.[1] The aircraft concerned was a Bell 505 Jet Ranger X, with registration N57NC.[2]

Raharney GAA club cancelled all hurling training sessions scheduled for the day of the crash, as the club grounds are close to the crash site.[3][1]

Gardaí confirmed that two men in their 40s died.[3]
