Dorr began working with Blood, Sweat & Tears in the 1970s, when he was a road manager for them.[1] His business side with them began in 1983[2] when he negotiated a licensing deal with Bobby Colomby in 1984 for rights to tour with the BS&T name; Larry befriended and convinced David Clayton-Thomas to join,[3] and the band reformed, and have been active since when a revolving lineup.[4][1]

Along with Blood Sweat and Tears founding member Bobby Colomby, Dorr has co-managed Grammy Award winning artist Paula Cole to new musical directions. Through Dorr’s guidance on March 1, 2009 Cole and musical icon Burt Bacharach performed a night of merging musical styles at the Berklee School of Music in Boston.

Dorr is responsible for this, and is open about the decision: “Musicians get bored easily. When you’re playing the same music every year, you get bored and you can tell they’re bored. Change is good for the band. It keeps them young, keeps them thinking on their feet.”[5]

As of 2024, Dorr continues to co-manage the band along with Colomby.

Dorr resides in Newbury, Massachusetts. His second wife, Geraldine, died in 2021.[6]
