Lennart Karl (born 22 February 2008) is an German footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Bayern Munich youth team. He is considered one of the greatest football talents in Germany.[1][2]
Club career
[edit]Lennart Karl joined the youth team of Viktoria Aschaffenburg in 2015. In 2017 he made the move the academy of Eintracht Frankfurt. In 2022 he rejoined Viktoria Aschaffenburg before he caught the eye of Bayern Munich and in the summer of 2022, Karl signed for Bayern Munich academy.[3] In 2024–25 season Lennart Karl started the U17 Nachwuchsliga Group F for Bayern Munich with 17 goals and 8 assists in just 9 appearances[3]. In October 2024 top-flight clubs like Real Madrid and Ajax had shown interest in the midfielder.[1]
International career
[edit]Karl has represented the Germany national U15, U16 and U17 teams.[4][5]
Style of play
[edit]Lennart Karl is a left-footed attacking midfielder, acting as a number 10, sitting behind the striker and dictating play in the final third. He often scores goals from long range. With his intelligence on the ball and considerable goal contributions he has drawn comparisons with Thomas Müller, Mesut Özil[3] and Bastian Schweinsteiger.[2][6]
