Details

[edit]

Lichtenstein Castle was built by German-born South African businessman Reynier Fritz. Construction began in 1986 and finished in 1998.[1]

Fritz later converted the Castle to a guest house before dying there. After his death, his widow Christine sold the property for 23 million rand to an unknown Russian businessman.[2] Allegedly haunted, the castle is one of the area's most popular attractions. The castle has 12 en suite bedrooms, a library, a banquet hall, a swimming pool, a helipad and a natural waterfall on its 8.6 hectares.[2] The castle can be rented out as a venue.[3]
