The steamship ran aground on the Haisborough Sands , in the North Sea off the coast of Norfolk. Her thirteen crew were rescued; three by a yawl and ten by the Palling Lifeboat British Workman ( Royal National Lifeboat Institution ). Spartan was on a voyage from Hamburg , Germany to London , United Kingdom . She floated off the next day and drove ashore at Winterton-on-Sea , Norfol, where she was wrecked.[14] [15]
