Luke James Robinson (born 20 November 2001) is a professional footballer who plays as a left-back for EFL League One side Wigan Athletic.
Club career
[edit]Born in Birkenhead,[2] Robinson played youth football for AC Hoylake, Wrexham and Wigan Athletic before starting a two-year scholarship deal with Wigan in summer 2018.[3][4] He signed a two-and-a-half-year contract in March 2020.[5][6] He made his debut for Wigan as a late substitute in a League One victory over Sunderland in December 2020.[7]
In July 2022, Robinson signed a new two-year contract with Wigan.[8] He proceeded to sign a season-long loan contract at Tranmere Rovers, his hometown club.[9] He made three appearances for the club, but suffered an ankle injury in training, and did not play again for the rest of the season.[10]
On 22 August 2023, Robinson joined Scottish Premiership club St Johnstone on a season-long loan.[11] Having been recalled from his loan on 31 December 2023,[12] he returned to the club on loan until the end of the season on 19 January 2024.[13]
International career
[edit]He has played for Scotland internationally at under-18 and under-19 levels.[14]
