M.A.H. Salim, also known as Silver Salim, is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and a former member of parliament for Bagerhat-2.[1][2]
Career
[edit]Salim was elected to parliament for Bagerhat-2 in 2001 as a candidate of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He served as the president of the Bagerhat District unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.[3] He is the chairman of Channel 1, a TV channel in Bangladesh.[4] He served as the chairman of the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies.[5]
Seven journalists in Bagerhat receiving threatening letters in 2005 for writing critical reports on Salim.[6]
Salim was sued by Mina Raqibul Hasan Milon, Sramik Dal leader, for land grab on 3 June 2007.[7] He was sentenced to five years imprisonment on 3 June 2008 for extorting from a construction firm owner in 2003.[8]
Personal life
[edit]Salim is married to Amena Begum. They have one daughter, Sahara Selim, and two sons, Mehedi Hassan and Samith Hassan.[9]
