Marlon Atienza Pesebre (born September 19, 1971), is a Filipino politician currently serving as councilor from Pasay's first district, and from 2001 until 2010. He also served as the vice mayor of Pasay from 2010 until 2016.

Early life and education

[edit]

Marlon Pesebre was born on September 29, 1971 in Pasay City to Engracio Pesebre and Remedios Atienza-Pesebre. He finished primary and secondary school at Malate Catholic School. He obtained his degree in Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of the East in Manila. Subsequently, he studied law in San Beda University (formerly San Beda College) for only two years.

Political career

[edit]

He is a successful entrepreneur prior to his career in politics.

In 2001, he was first elected as councilor. As a neophyte alderman, he was elected by his fellow councilors as the chairman of the Committee on Amusement, while serving in other committees.[1]

He was re-elected for second and term term in 2004 and 2007, respectively.

In 2008, the Pasay City government declared the reclaimed land Bay City as the city's special investment zone. He said that for purposes of autonomy, the special investment zone shall not be subject of territorial jurisdiction of any barangay or any barangay policy, rules and regulations, resolutions or ordinances, the same being directly governed by the city government.[2]

In 2010, he ran as vice mayor and won in a five-man race.[3] He was re-elected in 2013. A year before the 2016 elections, he warned his constituents of using his name for illegal transactions inside and outside the city hall.[4]

In 2016, he ran for re-election but lost to Pasay's Business Permits and Licensing Office Secretary Noel del Rosario.

Three years after his lost in vice-mayoral race, he sought comeback to the city council. He ran independently and won.[5]

In 2022, he ran for re-election under Team Calixto and won.[6]
