Maya Neelakantan (born 4 May 2013[1][2]) is Tamil prodigy and guitarist from Chennai, India. Learning Carnatic music and guitar playing from six years of age, she debuted her public performance at the America's Got Talent season 19 in June 2024.[3][4] Her performance, an instrumental fusion of Carnatic intro and the heavy metal song "Last Resort" by Papa Roach, became a sensational hit.[5][6] For her guitar prowess, Simon Cowell called her the "rock goddess."[7][8] She has been tutored online by Prasanna Ramaswamy, who is based in New York City.[9]
