Mayfield Road is an east–west thoroughfare spanning Peel Region, Ontario, Canada. The road forms the boundary of the City of Brampton and the Town of Caledon. The road continues a short distance into Halton Region as Side Road 17, which ends at Tenth Line. The road begins its Peel regional road status from Highway 50 and ends at Winston Churchill Boulevard. Although streets in Brampton are divided into east and west sections at Hurontario Street, Mayfield does not and address numbers follow the Caledon numbering system; starting at its western terminus[2] and increasing as it runs eastward.[3]

Route description

[edit]

Mayfield is mostly a two-lane semi-rural road, which continues Halton Region's Side Road 17 east from from Winston Churchill Boulevard. It encounters the first suburban development at Mississauga Road on the south (Brampton), then passes the semi-rural community of Alloa at Creditview Road. West of McLaughlin Road, development is underway on both the Brampton and Caledon sides of Mayfield. It then passes the right-of-way of the abandoned Orangeville Brampton Railway, a shortline which was originally the Credit Valley Railway and later Canadian Pacific. Just east of that point, it enters Snelgrove just west of Hurontario Street and both sides run completely within Brampton.

Mayfield Road and Major Mackenzie Drive:
There are plans for a future connection between Mayfield Road and Major Mackenzie Drive in Brampton.[4] The project is part of the Highway 427 Extension Area Transportation Master Plan, which aims to improve traffic flow and connectivity in the area.[5][6] The new roadway is designated as Arterial A2 in the plan and will be a six-lane north–south connection.[7] However, a specific construction timeline has not been announced yet.[8]
