The Ministry of Transportation of the Palestinian Authority is in charge of establishing a multimodal transportation system that satisfies international standards. It modernizes services, improves infrastructure, and strengthens institutional frameworks to increase efficiency and economic growth. The Ministry also updates rules and works with other agencies to improve overall transportation.[1]
History
[edit]The Palestinian Ministry of Transportation was established in 1994 after a presidential decree was issued by former President Yasser Arafat during the era of the Palestinian National Authority.
Objectives

- Conduct research to assess the demands for passenger and road transportation.
- Organize and develop road transport firms to attract investment.
- Sign agreements to promote transit movement.
- Grant the appropriate permits for transportation activities.
- Collaborate with civil and governmental institutions to promote sector development.
- Supervise and ensure compliance with road safety laws and regulations.
- Create a comprehensive information base for the transportation and communications sectors.
- Organize and develop work at border crossings to ensure optimal person and commodities transportation services.
- Manage and grow sector bodies, departments, and units to benefit residents and the government.
