My Dear Donga is an Indian comedy-drama film directed by B. S. Sarwagna Kumar and written by Shalini Kondepudi. The film stars Abhinav Gomatam, Shalini Kondepudi, Divya Sripada, Nikhil Gajula, Vamsidhar Goud, Shashank Manduri, among others. It was produced by Maheshwar Reddy Gojala under CAM Entertainment banner, with music by Ajay Arasada[1] and the film was released on 19 April 2024 on Aha (streaming service).[2]
Plot[edit]
The story revolves around Suresh (Abhinav Gomatam), a small-time thief who accidentally breaks into the flat of Sujatha (Shalini Kondepudi). Instead of reporting him, Sujatha befriends him after witnessing his underlying kindness. The film follows their growing friendship and the subsequent events that occur in their lives, leading to unexpected twists and turns.

In December 2023, Aha (streaming service) greenlit Aha original with Shalini Kondepudi as writer[3] and the casting details were made public in January 2024 with Abhinav Gomatam as leading man alongside Shalini Kondepudi as Writer and female lead.[4][5][6]

My Dear Donga was released on 19 April 2024 on Aha.[7]
Reception[edit]
The film received mixed reviews from critics,[8] with notable praise for the performances and situational comedy, balanced by criticisms of the story's emotional depth and coherence.[2] CineJosh rated the movie 2.5 out of 5, praising its lighthearted approach and humorous elements. However, the review noted some inconsistencies in logic and criticized the background music for lacking impact. Despite these critiques, the performances by the main cast, particularly Abhinav Gomatam and Shalini Kondepudi, were well received. Shalini Kondepudi's dual role as an actor and writer was highlighted, The initial situational humor involving her encounter with the robber was well-received, generating genuine laughs. the film faced criticism for its lack of emotional depth and inconsistency in storytelling.[9]
