Paris Xavier Shand (born May 7, 2001)[1] is a Canadian-American football defensive tackle for the LSU Tigers. He previously played for the Arizona Wildcats.
Early life and high school
[edit]Shand grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where he was part of the Team Canada U16 team and won a silver medal in the 2017 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship in Argentina. He also won a silver medal in the shot put in the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations.[2] Shand would then move to Windsor, Connecticut and attended high school at Loomis Chaffee School. Coming out of high school, Shand was rated as a three star recruit, where he committed to play college football for the Arizona Wildcats.[3][4]
College career

[edit]In Shand's first collegiate season in 2020, he tallied two tackles with one being for a loss, and a sack.[5] During the 2021 season, Shand played in eleven games with three starts, while notching 16 tackles with two being for a loss, and a sack and a half.[6] In the 2022 season, Shand totaled 23 tackles with two and a half being for a loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery, in nine games with seven starts. [7] After the conclusion of the 2022 season, Shand decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[8][9]
LSU
[edit]Shand decided to transfer to play for the LSU Tigers.[10][11] In week seven of the 2023 season, Shand notched six tackles with one and a half being for a loss, in a win over Auburn.[12] During Shand's first season with LSU, he recorded 17 tackles with five being for a loss, and two sacks.[13]
