- 1911 – David H. Jarvis committed suicide at the Arctic Club in Seattle. Appointed Collector of Customs for Alaska in 1902, Jarvis rejected President Roosevelt's offer to replace John Green Brady as governor in favor of heading the Guggenheim–Morgan interests in Alaska, subsequently bitterly feuding with James Wickersham over his ties to them.
