• 1968 - Super Bowl II, the NFL's Green Bay Packers easily defeat the AFL's Oakland Raiders 33-14 to capture their second straight Super Bowl victory.
• 1973 - Super Bowl VII, the Miami Dolphins defeat the Washington Redskins 14-7 to become the only team to complete a perfect, undefeated season.

• 1932 - Frank Varrichione, tackle, played in five Pro Bowls in an 11-year NFL career with the Los Angeles Rams and the Pittsburgh Steelers
• 1947 - Gene Washington, wide receiver, played in four Pro Bowls in an 11-year NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions.
• 1948 - Carl Weathers, linebacker, had a brief career in the NFL and Canadian Football League before taking up acting, playing (among other roles) Apollo Creed in the Rocky films.
• 1972 - Kyle Brady, tight end, played 13 NFL seasons for three different teams.
