Suggested Selected language candidates[edit]

Every day of the month, the Portal:Constructed languages features a Selected language. Because the portal has been in existence since November 2005 and the number of potential candidates is limited, the list is being reiterated from start once all languages that qualify have had their turn. As a rule of thumb, each day we are alternating artistic/fictional languages and auxiliary/logical/engineered languages.

Thus, the following languages have been featured one or more times in the past, more or less in the same order (for their contents, see the archive):

Ido, Quenya, Ithkuil, Klingon, Lingua Franca Nova, Brithenig, Lojban, Lingua Ignota, Kēlen, Novial, Toki Pona, Solresol, Simlish, Interlingua, Na'vi, Baronh, Esperanto, Verdurian, Europanto, Wenedyk, Láadan, Kotava, Teonaht, Blissymbols, Zaum, Slovianski, Afrihili, Khuzdûl, Basic English, Sindarin, Signuno, Talossan, Occidental, Black Speech, Ro, Volapük, Newspeak, Loglan, Dothraki, Characteristica universalis, Uropi, Interslavic, Tsolyáni, Na'vi, Valyrian languages.

If a language is not in the list and you think it would make a suitable candidate for Selected language, please nominate it below.

Guidelines[edit]

Here are some guidelines for Selected language candidates (based on those proposed here):

  1. The language should have a somewhat higher degree of notability than the average conlang. That does of course not mean that we should restrict ourselves to Esperanto, Ido and Klingon.
  2. The article itself should have a high standard of quality, and not be too short. It doesn't look good if the "read more" link produces nothing else than some external links. The beginning of the article should somehow fit in the "Selected language" box.
  3. It would be nice, but not imperative, if the article contained a picture.
