HMAS Hobart (DDG 39), is the lead ship of the Hobart-class air warfare destroyers used by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Based on a Spanish design, the ship was constructed at ASC's shipyard in Osborne, South Australia from modules fabricated at different yards. Ordered in 2007, errors and delays in construction caused the ship's commissioning to be delayed until September 2017 after initially being planned for December 2014.
