Nomination Discussion

I've been thinking that we might want to restrict the monthly nominations to only include photos taken in that month; e.g. require the October photo to have been taken during October, etc. I'm not sure if we have the volume to sustain that kind of requirement, but it might help make the nomination process a little less arbitrary. What do the other regulars think about this proposal? Nimur (talk) 03:29, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Honestly, I don't see the need to implement this as I don't think that having "arbitrary" noms is an issue. The only issue I see presented below is potential regional bias, which is something totally different. – TMF 21:29, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

  • Support; NY17 was one of the first state highways I'd driven in entirety. Nice shot of the foliage and the rolling hills. Nimur (talk) 05:32, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Support Has a good balance of road and scenery. IMO, the second picture focuses too much on scenery and the third focuses too much on the road. – TMF 20:55, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Oppose - We have already had three New York pictures this year alone, we need to see other states. Dough4872 (talk) 16:12, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

PA 662 in Oley Township

  • Support - The streaks in the roadway really emphasize age. –CG 17:41, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Support - It doesn't really show age, but I like the image anyways --Admrboltz (talk) 17:35, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
  • Oppose There's nothing about this picture that really stands out at me and says "wow". The only picture that I can think of that reminds me of this one was the one for US 50, but that picture emphasized the whole "loneliest road" concept. On top of that, it looks like the tint of the windshield wasn't removed through color correction before it was uploaded. I'd have a hard time justifying this as one of the best road pictures in the U.S., which is what we should be nominating here. – TMF 17:42, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

  • Support per Dave. I'm not a fan of old, greyscale pics, but once every so often is fine. As long as this doesn't lead to a flood of them... – TMF 21:16, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
  • Support due to the fact I live in a borough just across the bridge to where that sign is. For theoretics, this is what the scene looks like now. This picture dates back to when Route 18's freeway ended at Route 27 in New Brunswick. From here, 18 went into my borough and over to Middlesex.
