Portal layout and content

[edit]

I welcome this Portal being created. Could we get the 'current news' section and those beneath it in the right column brought up towards the top? I've tried to change it, but can't see how. Do we need a 'Image Queries' section if the image is actually identified. Maybe changing section title to 'Test your mountain id skills' Parkywiki (talk) 02:14, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I may have a go, but I'm no expert. I copied the format from German Wiki. Happy to change the Image Queries section. I think the original German Wiki one was meant to be a quiz. --Bermicourt (talk) 22:10, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've worked out what the casue of the layout problem is . . but not the solution. All the right hand portalboxes are centred vertically on the page. there's exactly the same amount of blank space above them as there is below. I've not been able to find any instructions that relate to positioning at the top, as yet. One solution is to reduce the amount of content on the left hand side or, alternatively, add some more portal boxes or content to the right hand side to push them both up and down at the same time. Maybe a few extra images for "Can you identify these peaks?" might do the trick. I'll give it a go and see what happens. Parkywiki (talk) 22:19, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense. I wanted to move the Featured Image and Mountain Ranges sections up and in line with the sections to their left, but looks like they're centred as well. --Bermicourt (talk) 07:28, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Missing: geology

[edit]

I just found and linked this portal, among others in Schrattenkalk Formation, which is quite an important formation of the Alps. But on this portal there is nothing about the Geology of the Alps (an article that is very incomplete anyway)? Would be good to add that important aspect of the Alps. @Tisquesusa: I am so sorry - I failed to spot your eminently sensible suggestion (as I have had to turn off email notifications of edits this last 18 months). But 363 days later I have acted upon it! Many thanks, Nick Moyes (talk) 22:29, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
