Political Career

[edit]

Praveen Singh, who had been associated with the Samajwadi Party for a considerable time, previously made a significant impact in the Machrehta Block Pramukh elections by winning 64 out of 76 votes, delivering a resounding defeat to his opposition. This victory occurred during the Bahujan Samaj Party's government in Uttar Pradesh, when Rampal Rajvanshi of the Samajwadi Party represented the Misrikh constituency in the state assembly. [5]

On 19th March 2024, Praveen Singh, the former Block Pramukh of Machrehta, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). During a public outreach event in the village of Anogi, BJP Member of Parliament Ashok Rawat welcomed Praveen Singh and thousands of his supporters into the party by presenting them with the BJP scarf. [1][2][3]

After a few weeks, accompanied by a convoy of cars with hundreds of supporters. Praveen made a grand entrance at the Sitapur BJP office, where he was officially welcomed into the party by Sitapur District President Rajesh Shukla. This significant event highlighted Praveen Singh's influence and the strong support he brings to the party, setting a positive tone for future political dynamics in the region. [1][2][3]

Coming from the Kshatriya community, Praveen Singh held considerable influence among the Thakur community in the region, making his shift to the BJP a significant development in local politics. His support was instrumental in ensuring Ashok Rawat’s victory with a substantial margin in the 2024 elections, further solidifying BJP's position in the region. Ashok later emerged victorious for the second consecutive time in the 2024 elections, securing an impressive 5,50,000 votes. [6]
