Promethium(III) sulfide is a binary inorganic compound with the chemical formula Pm2S3.

Synthesis

The compound can be prepared by reacting promethium and sulfur in stoichiometric amounts at 500 °C:

2Pm + 3S → Pm2S3

Physical properties

The compound forms garnet red crystals of the orthorhombic system, space group I̅3d[1] and exists in α and β forms.[2]
