Rajesh Kumar Singh (born 1 July 1967) is an officer of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of 1991 batch belonging to the Uttar Pradesh cadre.[1]

He is currently serving as the Principal Secretary to government of Uttar Pradesh, Jail Administration & Reform Services[2] and Principal Secretary, Cooperative Department,[3] Government of Uttar Pradesh, he is also the Director General of Deendayal Upadhyay State Institution of Rural Development, Lucknow.[4][5][6]

Rajesh Kumar is a Bachelor of Technology graduate and has also completed his Post-graduation in Master of Technology.

Early Life and Education

Rajesh Kumar hails from Muzaffarpur, Bihar. He has completed his secondary and higher secondary education from his hometown.

After that he opted for Bachelor of Technology and also pursued master's degree in the same stream i.e. Master of Technology. He then appeared in the All India Civil Services Examination in 1991 and was selected for the Indian Administrative Services.[1]

Career

Rajesh Kumar Singh has served various posts at different capacities all over Uttar Pradesh. He was the Special Secretary to Government of UP, Uttaranchal Development Department, Lucknow from 23 December 1999 to 10 August 2000, which was his first posting in U.P as an civil servant of U.P cadre. He has also served as the District Magistrate & Collector of many districts in Uttar Pradesh including Kushinagar, Udham Singh Nagar, Ballia, Meerut [7] and Aligarh.[1]

His first posting as a District Magistrate & Collector in U.P was for the district Kushinagar, from 11 August 2000 to 26 August 2000. He was also the Commissioner of Moradabad Division. He has held many key positions in the central government and in the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

He was the Deputy Director General (DDG) of Unique Identification Authority of India, Ministry of Electronics & IT from 10 October 2016 to 16 October 2017. He has held many positions as Secretary and Principal Secretary. He was Principal Secretary, Infrastructure & Industrial Development Department from 2018 to 2019. He was Principal Secretary of Transport Department Government of U.P[8] and also the Chairman of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.[9]

Before his current posting as the Principal Secretary, Prison Administration and Reform Services and DG prisons he was posted as Principal Secretary, Horticulture and Food Processing Department.[10]
