Renaud Labaye, born December 6, 1984, is a French politician and current secretary general of the National Rally (RN) group in the National Assembly.[1]
Biography
[edit]Renaud Labaye graduated from the École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr from 2005 to 2008 where he obtained the rank of lieutenant, and from HEC Paris in 2009.[2] After his studies, he began his career as a project manager within the management General Director of Competitiveness, Industry and Services at the Ministry of Economics and Finance from 2010 to 2014.[3]
Between 2014 and 2017, Labaye worked as legislative assistant for two non-registered senators, Stéphane Ravier from Bouches-du-Rhône and David Rachline from Var. In 2017, Rachline, then mayor of Fréjus, recommended Labaye to Marine Le Pen who was seeking to revitalize the human resources of the Front National (FN), which later became the National Rally. Renaud Labaye then becomes chief of staff of Marine Le Pen.[4]
In 2022, after the legislative elections where the National Rally made a significant breakthrough with 88 deputies, Marine Le Pen appointed Renaud Labaye secretary general of the RN parliamentary group in the National Assembly. In this role, Labaye is responsible for coordinating the activities of National Rally deputies and developing a “parliamentary culture” within the group. It sets clear objectives: oppose the policies of Emmanuel Macron while preparing a political alternative for the presidential elections of 2027.[5]
