The Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health is a public health school at Indiana University Indianapolis. This school originated as the Department of Public Health in the Indiana University School of Medicine. In 2012, the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health was founded with support of a $20 million grant from the Fairbanks Foundation, the largest in the foundation’s history, and a $1 million feasibility study funded by Eli Lilly and Co.[1][2]

Academics

The school offers two bachelor of science degrees (Health Services Management, and Public Health), four master’s degrees (Master of Public Health, Master of Health Administration, Master of Science in Biostatistics, and Master of Science in Global Health & Sustainable Development), and four doctoral degrees (PhD in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Health Policy & Management, and DrPH in Global Health Leadership).[3]

The school is organized into four departments:

  • Biostatistics and Health Data Science
  • Community and Global Health
  • Epidemiology
  • Health Policy & Management

Accreditations

The Fairbanks School of Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.[4] It is also the only public health school in the United States that has been accredited by the global Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation.[5] The Master of Health Administration program is the only program in Indiana accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education.[6] In 2021, the Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management was certified by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration.[7]
