Strategic advice[edit]

He began his career at Procter & Gamble, in the marketing department, then working from 1998 at McKinsey as a consulting manager in media, distribution and consumer goods consulting.[3]

Canal+[edit]

In October 2001, he became director of strategy and development for Canal+ Distribution and CanalSatellite.

In January 2003, he became marketing and strategy director of the group. On November 13 of the same year, he became deputy general director in place of Guillaume de Vergès, then quickly general director of Canal+. He took an active part in restructuring the company and overhauling its editorial line.

On October 19, 2012, he was appointed CEO of the Canal+ Group and also became a member of its management board. Bertrand Meheut, chairman of the board of directors of the Canal+ group, officially makes him his “successor” at the head of the company.

In an internal email sent on January 12, 2015, Vivendi announced that Rodolphe Belmer would also take responsibility for its new entity Vivendi Contents. On July 3, 2015, the channel announced his departure from the management of Canal + and his replacement by Maxime Saada. Two days later, the Society of Film Directors (SRF, to which Laurent Cantet, Pascale Ferran and Cédric Klapisch belong in particular) expressed its “dismay” at the announcement of this news.

In February 2024, questioned by deputies during a parliamentary commission of inquiry concerning the allocation of TNT frequencies, Rodolphe Belmer returns to his departure from Canal + and calls into question the omnipresence of Vincent Bolloré: "The main element of disagreement at the time concerned what I considered to be Mr. Bolloré's micromanagement."[4]

Switch to France Télévisions[edit]

On August 24, 2015, Le Figaro announced that Rodolphe Belmer will chair and lead a strategic orientation committee for France Télévisions, in order to study audiovisual trends and guide the strategic policy of the new president of the public audiovisual group, Delphine Ernotte.[5]

Eutelsat[edit]

After joining the Eutelsat group in December 2015 as deputy general manager, the company announces that Rodolphe Belmer will succeed Michel de Rosen as general manager of Eutelsat Communications as of March 1, 2016. He is replaced at the head of Eutelsat by Eva Berneke, who becomes CEO on January 1, 2022, the date on which he takes up his position as CEO of the company Atos.[6]

Atos[edit]

On October 20, 2021, the Atos board of directors approved the replacement of Elie Girard by Rodolphe Belmer at the head of the French IT group, with the start date of January 1, 2022.[7]

On June 14, 2022, Rodolphe Belmer created a surprise by announcing himself, without the news having been anticipated, his departure from the head of the Atos group “no later than September 5”, i.e. less than 9 months after his appointment. The same day, the group's stock suffered a 16% loss in value following this unforeseen announcement, interpreted as a negative signal by the markets.

While the company was experiencing a significant structural crisis at the time of his resignation, Rodolphe Belmer obtained a starting bonus of 1.8 million euros.

The group's board of directors appoints Nourdine Bihmane on July 13, 2022, to succeed him with immediate effect.
