Rongdaife is a 2021 Manipuri film directed by Bobby Haobam and produced by Vincent Nameirakpam.[1][2][3] The film is a production of VINTel Infracom Private Limited in association with Sayon Entertainment.[4] It stars Leishangthem Tonthoi, Somen Chanam and Nunglen Luwang in the lead roles.[5][6] It is based on Lekhajit Laishram's comic story Laina Pakpi. Principal photography of the movie was done in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
Rongdaife got official selections at the Prague International Film Awards 2022 and 3rd DIORAMA International Film Festival and Market 2021.[7] The film won two awards at the 14th Manipur State Film Awards 2022.[8][9]
Plot
[edit]The film centers around Leinu who suffers from a severe skin ailment. She is from the tribal village of Ching-Khai-Bon. The villagers repeatedly engages in fights with those from Rongdaife. When Rongdaife is left without any successor, Leinu stands out. She is promised to cure her ailment only if she rules Rongdaife. She accepts it and all scores are settled. Peace is restored in Rongdaife and Ching-Khai-Bon.
