Sane Seven is a visionary[1] portrait photographer based in the United Kingdom, renowned for her powerful, intimate[2] depictions of influential women and her focus on projects advancing gender equality.[3] She works in tandem with her feminist husband and creative director Marius Janciauskas.[4]

Career

[edit]

Seven's journey in photography began with her studies in Fine Art at John Moores University,[5] where she later became a visiting lecturer. Her early career saw her as Creative Director at The Collective magazine and a Board Member of Trustees at The Merseyside Youth Association.[6]

Seven's partnership with Marius Janciauskas, who holds a PhD in Psychology, began in 2014.[7] This collaboration has been instrumental in shaping their unique approach to portrait photography, blending artistic vision with research-based insight.

In 2016, the duo held an exhibition during the International Festival for Business, featuring unconventional portraits of business leaders and entrepreneurs.[8][9] In 2017, they published "Secrets of Success: None of Us Are Superman,"[10] a book aimed at inspiring young entrepreneurs, which won a silver prize at the MIFA awards.[11][12]

[edit]

In 2023, she wrote an article for PetaPixel about the potential impact of digital technologies on fashion photography, demonstrating her thought leadership in the industry.[17]

Created a WACL editorial for Harper's Bazaar, incorporating an AI-generated woman to highlight the lack of female executives in advertising and communications.[18]

For the Women in Data series 6, she represented each featured woman with an AI-generated flower based on their description, blending traditional portraiture with cutting- edge AI technology.
