Shakajeet Nayak

Shakajeet Nayak (died 29 May 2021) was an Indian politician.

Biography

He served a Member of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, ultimately for Raigarh, representing the Indian National Congress, from 1990 until 2013.[citation needed]

Nayak was originally elected to the Vidhan Sabha as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party from 1990 until 2002, when he defected to the INC.[1]

He was appointed as Minister of Irrigation in the Government of Chhattisgarh under Ajit Jogi from 2000 to 2003.[2]

His son, Prakash Naik, was elected as the MLA for Raigarh in 2018.[citation needed]

Nayak died from COVID-19, aged 78, in 2021.[3]
