"Slippin'" is a 2024 song recorded by American rapper Paul Russell featuring American singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor. The song was released and promoted as a collaboration between the two artists for their upcoming tour.[1] It was written by Russel along with several others, and released in July 2024 by Arista Records.[2]

The song's title is based on the common English idiom "slipping through your fingers," meaning to pass without being taken advantage of.[3] This phrase is used repeatedly to emphasize the message of unrequited love.
Background
[edit]Meghan Trainor announced The Timeless Tour in March 2024, featuring Paul Russell as opening act.[4] Russell shared "slippin'" with Trainor, with it being released later that year prior to their tour.[1][5]
In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Russell describes how he and one of the song's producers used artificial intelligence to create a "virtual sample," making a sample of Russell's voice sound feminine. This AI-generated sample was then used in the song.[6]
