Sundbyøster nominating district is one of the 92 nominating districts that was created for Danish elections following the 2007 municipal reform.[2][3][4] It is one of the 9 nominating districts in Copenhagen Municipality.[5]

In general elections, the district is a very strong area for parties commonly associated with the red bloc, having been the district where they received their fifth highest vote share in the 2022 general election[6]
