The Syrian FA Shield is a men's football (soccer) competition played in Jordan since its inauguration in 2024. It is generally played before the start of the domestic league season, featuring all the clubs from that season. The Syrian Federation Shield is a tournament created by the Syrian Football Federation, and its first edition will be held this season, and its matches will start on 9/23/2024, and will continue until 10/11/2024. The Premier League clubs participate in the new tournament "The Federation Shield", which will be held in a single-stage knockout system.[1]
The tournament system also stipulates that any player who has not signed with any club is allowed to participate with any team he wants. Considering that the competition is considered a preparatory round for the next season, the club must send a nominal list of the names of its players a week before the start of the tournament. The Federation also explained that it allowed players born in 2007 and above to participate in the tournament. As the main goal of the tournament is to prepare the clubs for the next season and enter them into a competitive atmosphere.
History of the tournament
[edit]Participation of 12 clubs The first official edition of the Syrian Federation Shield Championship will kick off this season 2024/2025,[2] and the teams ranked in the new championship will participate in a system that divides the participating teams into two groups, where they will be distributed based on the teams' ranking in the previous season. The first group will include the teams that ranked first, third, fifth, seventh, ninth and eleventh, while the second group will include the teams that ranked second, fourth, sixth, eighth, tenth and twelfth. The teams will play in a league system. The champion of each group will qualify for the final match to play for the Federation Shield. The matches will be held on the grounds of the team with the first name in the draw, except for the final match, which will be played in the capital, Damascus.
