Correct name of device[edit]

The correct and most current name of the "M" device should be used in the article.
The DoD military awards manual and Army military awards manual do not use "Mobilization Device" or "Mobilization device" or "A/award D/device" or "A/award devices" in their manuals. The "device" is not a "decoration", separately or with the Armed Forces Reserve Medal (Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" device), as someone wrote in the introduction of the article. The Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" device counts as one award.

DoD Military Decorations and Awards Manual 1348.33, V3, Nov. 23, 2010 (most current military decorations and awards manual):
P. 1 (2) "Lists authorized service devices..." >
Page 7, "Authorized Devices for wear...", "M" (Mobilization Device).................Page 56
Page 51, Table 1. "Summary of Authorized Devices...". Key 12. "M" (Mobilization) Device)

(1) The "M" device is worn on the AFRM to indicate mobilization in support of U.S Military operations or contingencies designated by the Secretary of Defense...")
(2) The "M" device (for mobilization) is a bronze block letter "M", 1/4 inch in height".

U.S. Army Regulation, Military Awards, 600-8-22, Dec. 11, 2006:

"M" device
"The "M" Device......" " ........are also eligible for award of the "M" Device."

I would agree that the correct name of the subject of this article is “M” device as shown by page 34 of DoD Manual 1348.33, Volume 2 dated November 23, 2010, which can be viewed here: [1]. Page 56 of DoD Manual 1348.33, Volume 3 also lists the name as “M” device as you can see here: [2]. However, taking “M” (Mobilization) Device, the heading of the paragraph describing the "M" Device on page 56, as an official name seems a bit out of context. I would also wish to direct your attention to other sources that refer to the device as the Mobilization Device, among them are an official Coast Guard publication [3], several commercial sellers of military medals [4][5][6], and a few official military biographies [7][8][9]. If you would like to comment on my input please feel free, but these Ad nauseam arguments and rehashing/copy pasting out of a DoD manual are not constructive. Please, engage in discourse if you want to make wholesale changes. Thanks. EricSerge (talk) 14:48, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Correction:
Page 7, "Authorized Devices for wear..."
"M" (Mobilization) Device................................. Page 56

Uh-huh that is the listing of the paragraph I mentioned on page 56, 'in the table of contents, a reproduction of the paragraph heading, not another independent usage. Again with the ad nauseam cut and paste. EricSerge (talk) 02:18, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Award manuals[edit]

The DoD Awards Manual 1348.33, V 1-3, Nov.23, 2010, has preference over the the other and older service award manuals.

I can agree that those are the most current DoD publication, but in what context are you making reference to Award numerals? EricSerge (talk) 14:49, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
