Name

[edit]

People seem to be confused about her last name. Is it all one name?--Anen87 (talk) 18:40, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yep! It's all one name. Half her name is her dad's name, and the other half is her mother's name. Yeah, I know, it's confusing! :-) --IBCPirates (talk) 20:32, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Image

[edit]

Bergès-Frisbey appears in the latest Pirates-of-the-Caribbean film (with Johnny Depp) in the crucial role of a mermaid that is captured and nearly only perceived, by the spectators, visually. The film, and in its middle Bergès-Frisbey, are likely to become a cultural icon. It could therefore be embarrassing not to have an image of Bergès-Frisbey while the film is being shown in theaters. --Hans Dunkelberg (talk) 11:09, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

With the new upload wizard of Wikimedia Commons, it should be quite easy to load up an image, so if somebody might just fear technical difficulties, he resp. she could try that out. Once an image is uploaded, it is going to be found by some editor, on Wikimedia Commons, quickly — at least if the name Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey is mentioned in the description. The category can as well be Actresses from Spain as Actresses from France — the basis of categorization on Wikimedia Commons is common sense. The license can also easily be chosen, there. One can also contact an administrator who is experienced with the integration of images into Wikipedia, for example Nehrams2020. --Hans Dunkelberg (talk) 17:32, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please clarify this statment from the article

[edit]

"she had to brush up on her English and had Penelope Cruz as an on-set pal when the language barrier became too much." The article says she is fluent in Spanish, and Cruz is fluent in Spanish, because lets face it, their both in fact Spanish actresses, so this statment is saying what? Deepintexas (talk) 22:21, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The statement says that Bergès-Frisbey, though this is not obvious to a general audience, has, parallelly to preparing her scenes in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, also had to refresh her acquaintance with the English language. The source appears credible, and there is no reason to count this a libellous statement — it is just an information. It can be interesting when, and how, such an actress has learned her English. It could also have been that Bergès-Frisbey had already got acquainted to the English language so thoroughly, earlier, that she would not have had to brush up on her English any more, for the few words she says in the film. I, for example, would not even have imagined Bergès-Frisbey could be of non-Anglo-Saxon origin, when I saw the film, so that it really appears as an issue of a certain interest how such a phenomenon may have emerged. Bergès-Frisbey is so phenomenally amazing an actress that one can be quite surprised to hear that she, beside all the work she must have done on her play-acting, still had to pay attention to the pronunciation of every word and of every syllable, in a situation where the loss of just a minute can mean a loss of so-and-so-many thousands of dollars.
I have not found the information on Cruz as an on-set pal regarding the language barrier, any more, and therefore removed it, but am going to check that, again. --Hans Dunkelberg (talk) 10:21, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also a further, more thorough check of the sources has not led to the detection of any information on such a role of Cruz, though I think I remember I had found such in one of the three sources provided. Maybe the website has been changed. --Hans Dunkelberg (talk) 23:34, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

An image used in this article, File:AstridBerge.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?
Speedy deletions at commons tend to take longer than they do on Wikipedia, so there is no rush to respond. If you feel the deletion can be contested then please do so (commons:COM:SPEEDY has further information). Otherwise consider finding a replacement image before deletion occurs.

Hans Dunkelberg

[edit]

Please discuss your proposed change here. Reichsfürst (talk) 13:38, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You challenge the remark that Cruz was an on-set pal for her. Actually, I have found that, first, in the source, and let it in the article; later, I did not find it any more, and removed it; now, but, I have again found it, in the source. Maybe there are two conflicting versions of the Digital Spy article, which You access of the one without the statement. --Hans Dunkelberg (talk) 13:49, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The source that was originally there was the yahoo one, the one now referenced does contain it so I have simply reworded your edit to make more grammatical sense. Issue resolved? Reichsfürst (talk) 13:52, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Actually now that I re-read the source it is simply making the observation that she does have another Spanish speaking pal and is therefore not an objective statement that can be counted as encylopaedic, I agree with the above discussion.Reichsfürst (talk) 13:56, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This is risking turning into an edit-war, please leave the statement off the page while we get a third opinion. Reichsfürst (talk) 13:57, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Source simply says: 'and when the language barrier becomes too much she has the Spanish-speaking Cruz as an on-set pal' - this seems like an off the cuff remark that should not be featured on this page. Reichsfürst (talk) 14:01, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, no, this is not at all turning into an edit-war. I agree that the fact of Cruz being an on-set pal for her, when Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides was filmed, is not encyclopaedic enough to be included here. I only hesitate to delete anything, in the English Wikipedia, because I am not English, myself. The remark had originally not been inserted by me, but by somebody else; therefore I have re-inserted it, after I had removed it only because I had not found it, any more, in the source. --Hans Dunkelberg (talk) 14:03, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok brilliant then we don't need another editor and we can agree to leave it off the page. Reichsfürst (talk) 14:46, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would also point out that the IGN source says in an interview 'And I'm learning English,' - I think learning rather than brushing up might be more appropriate. Thoughts? Reichsfürst (talk) 14:59, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In another interview she says 'I learned a little English on the set, and luckily my accent isn’t so strong because I can pick up languages. Of course, I don’t feel as comfortable with English as I would like to.' - I think this is clear evidence that brushing up is inappropriate. Reichsfürst (talk) 15:06, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent, thank you for joining those references! Reichsfürst (talk) 15:21, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What does User:Reichsfürst mean with "misleading description tags"?

[edit]

Hi!

User:Reichsfürst has asked me not to use "misleading description tags". What might he be talking of? --Hans Dunkelberg (talk) 14:11, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is she really Spanish-French?

[edit]

Based on the article's content, I see no reason to define her in the lead as more than a Spanish actress and model. There is nothing to support French citizenship. What is this based on?  Mbinebri  talk ← 14:31, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are right that one should not mention where she resides in the first sentence. The fact that she resides in France is but of a certain interest and can be alluded to that early, because with artists, the official side of the matters of citizenship is little important. --Hans Dunkelberg (talk) 16:52, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm certain she's French rather than Spanish. She can't be both, because Spain doesn't allow its citizens to hold dual citizenship. She's lived in France since the age of five, so she most likely acquired French citizenship at some point. Two of the sources cited refer to her as French only (1 2), while none refer to her as Spanish (1 calls her French/Spanish, which probably refers to her ethnicity). Prayer for the wild at heart (talk) 22:52, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
She is spanish. In spain dont lost the nacionality for live in another country or Antonio Banderas, no is apaniard? Maybe in another country not accept dual nationality, but in spain yes, and one person, that born in spain, that his father is spanish, is spaniard. For born and for blood. And she wan,t their children when born, can be spanish, it their want. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.127.211.144 (talk) 21:39, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Banderas is not American, he just lives there. With the exception of a number of countries not including France, Spanish citizenship is revoked when a person acquires foreign citizenship.[1]. Prayer for the wild at heart (talk) 05:53, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
False, my cousin has dual citizenship spanish-french, more examples Luis Fernandez[2], or the son of Zinedine Zidane [3]. More examples spanish-germany dual nacionality, is posible?, yes of course [4]. You can lost the spanish nacionality, but only, if you want, no is necessary. They lose the Spanish Spanish nationality emancipated EXPRESSLY waived, if they have another nationality.[5][6]. Some countries have advantages in Spanish nationalization, for advantages the one a faster nationalization (for inmigrants), latin countries, Philippines, but you can African and have Spanish nationality, Serge Ibaka[7] Nationality Congolese/Spanish. Antonio Banderas and Astrid Berges is the same case, the two are spaniards, born in spain, and for the blood spaniars too (ius sanguinis), and the two live in another country, but the two are spaniards because have never renounced their nationality. In spain always recognized as Spanish.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.127.211.144 (talk) 09:39, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I looked it up and it seems you are partly right: you indeed can retain Spanish citizenship when you acquire foreign citizenship, but only if you expressly declare your will to keep it. If you don't, you automatically lose it.[8] And again, Antonio Banderas is not American (i.e. he has not acquired US citizenship); he is a Spaniard who happens to live in America. Prayer for the wild at heart (talk) 13:18, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Astrid Berges said i´m spaniard, living in france. "Me apetecía mucho hacer esta película. Aunque viva en Francia soy española y quería hacer una película en España. "I really wanted to make this movie. I.m living in France but I am Spanish and I wanted to make a film in Spain. Eye color

[edit]

What is Astrid's eye color? Some sites show it's hazel, while others say it's green. Help please! 173.186.167.223 (talk) 22:09, 16 June 2013 (UTC) No answer? COME ON! 173.186.165.246 (talk) 09:08, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

LOL! Yeah, her eye color is hazel. I read an interview with her. It's hazel, don't worry. --IBCPirates (talk) 20:34, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
She actually has multi-coloured irises, the result of Sectoral Heterochromia. see here. Check out I Origins.-Kiwipat (talk) 07:08, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to keep Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey's biography accurate.

[edit]

Historian here. I recommend paying attention to the order of nationalities listed to ensure better clarity and objectivity in this article.

It is essential to maintain consistency in the biographies of individuals with multiple nationalities. Regarding Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, although she was born in Spain to a Franco-American mother and a Spanish father, but she has never lived in Spain; she grew up in France. It’s important to present her nationalities in a coherent order.

In a French interview, Timothée Chalamet mentioned that he sometimes feels French, but it would be quite unreasonable to list him as French before American in his Wikipedia entry. His primary identity remains American, as is often the case for individuals with dual nationalities.

Similarly, while Kylian Mbappé has mentioned his Algerian roots through his mother, his primary public identity is French. It’s important not to overemphasize origins to the point of confusing the main identity.

I have corrected these issues before and I don’t understand why they keep changing. We need to focus on the facts. 2A01:CB04:B39:5200:F51A:1FC6:977C:BBC7 (talk) 22:16, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
