The term "Krumlov" needs to be translated into English, as simply defining the toponym in its own terms (ie. as "literally Czech Krumlov") is ridiculous.Le Anh-Huy 10:09, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

"Český" is used to differentiate between Moravský Krumlov. I have added a mention of this to the intro. Olessi 15:35, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

I added the Latin name Crumlaw used by monks and the Rosenberg family itself (in latin writtings). There are also references as Cromlaw in Flanders and England, but the Latin original is definitely Crumlaw as it was used by Witkonis/Witigonen/Rosenberg family. This is important for people interested in old latin archives of priories, monasteries and abbeys in Bohemia and abroad. --IEEE 15:50, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

What we need is an English name, English books at Google Books yield "Crumlaw" so I've added it Argonauth (talk) 23:14, 23 August 2012 (UTC).

I have removed the name "Moravian Crumlaw" as original research. Just because one word in a name is the same natively doesn't mean it translates the same way into other languages - compare České Budějovice, German: Budweis vs. Moravské Budějovice, German: Budwitz. Furthermore, the name "Crumlaw" is archaic at best, the two sources cited are about 200 years old. Spelling of the town's name

Historically the name of the town is spelled Krummau (in German). Though occasionally one encounters spelling with one "m" (Krumau), and some claim it is more common, I believe it is not. At the very least Krummau, with two m's" deserves to be mentioned alongside with Krumau. There are a four other Krumaus (three placenames Krumau in Austria and one in Moravia)while there is only one Krummau. Roobit (talk) 09:45, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Old German encyclopedias like Brockhaus from 1911, Meyers from 1905 or Herder from 1854 use Krumau. Have a look:

Thanks for the links, I found yet another spelling through this zeno.org - Krummlow

Google search produced 50 000 results with Krummau, pertaining to Krummau, Cesky Krumlov that is while search on Krumau produced over 150 000 results, all pertaining to different places

There is a site by person with ancestry from KruMmau. http://www.krummau.de

I think the second spelling merits a mention, especially because it is unique (unlike other four Krumau/s)

Baroque Theatre

I very recently took a tour of the castle's theatre, and learned that the theatre has performances three times a year, not one. Of these, two are open to the public. I have changed the text to reflect this. Bfoxen 08:26, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Gallery

The gallery in this article is clearly excessive. Wikipedia is not an image repository. I would like to propose removing it and leaving the panorama, or at least pruning it down to a few images. We have a link to Wikimedia Commons for people to browse pictures.

Also I would like to propose moving this one image from the gallery to the infobox: File:Cesky Krumlov 01.jpg, as it is a much clearer picture of pretty much the same view as the pic that is there now. Thoughts? – filelakeshoe (t / c)  12:59, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

I agree with removal of gallery and keeping panorama only.

About change of image in infobox, I agree that current one is not the best and it is good idea to replace it. But I am not sure, that File:Cesky Krumlov 01.jpg is so much better (not the best technical quality), I think there are better at Commons. Some suggestion:

Image no. 4 is fine, the file marked as proposed has rather weak colours and lacks sharpness, in my opinion. Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 15:24, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
