Is this really an "intermediate cartridge," or is it a big-bore hunting cartridge?

[edit]

The first sentence in the article on the .400 Legend calls it an "intermediate cartridge." Is this really an "intermediate cartridge" (low-recoil infantry cartridge with a range of 300-600 meters)? I believe it is really a big-bore cartridge for hunting, not a low-recoil infantry cartridge with a range of 300-600 meters, which is the definition of an Intermediate cartridge.

The Wikipedia entry for Intermediate cartridge says that intermediate cartridges are low-recoil (which the .400 Legend is not) and says, "the external ballistics are still sufficient for an effective range of 300–600 metres (330–660 yd), which covers most typical infantry engagement situations in modern warfare." Well, the .400 Legend definitely doesn't have an effective range of 300–600 meters (330–660 yd), but only about 200 meters. It's also not an infantry cartridge; it's a hunting cartridge. Although Wikipedia has no article (yet) on big-bore cartridges, the Wikipedia article on Small-bore cartridges says, "The medium-bore refers to calibers with a diameter between .33 inches up to .39 inches..."
