Private Cornelius Smith

[edit]

I purchased a set of four boxes Americana style. Inside one box was the Certificate of discharge papers for one private Cornelius Smith who served in Company A, 12 Regiment of the Illinois Cavalry. He was enrolled on the 1863-10-30 to serve three years and was discharged the 1865-12-05. This was given at the War Dept Washington D.C. the 15th day of June 1892. This form was filed for record on the 16th day of July 1892 at 12:40 p.m. recorded in book 3 of Miscel page 264. This form has a water mark, and is signed by Lewis F Lake Cir. Clerk and Recorder. It is stamped Winnebago co, Ill Filed July 16th 1892. This form looks like the original. There was also a picture of a elder man inside the folded form. I'm interested if there is more info on this person,or his service - 97.203.97.3 (talk) 00:15, 31 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
